What a night to remember! The room at Skylands in Randolph was a buzz on September 21! Over 160 guests attended Petcasso which included music by local acoustic band Little Orange Cone, great food and, of course, “masterpawses” by the animal artists. Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen was in attendance and spoke to the guests about his support for Noah’s Ark and the work we do on behalf of homeless pets in our community.

Smaller paintings by shelter pets were for sale throughout the evening, and guests could also bid on silent auction items ranging from tickets to a Skyhawk’s game, a golf foursome at Skyview Golf Course, spa packages and an autographed book from Mutt’s creator Patrick McDonnell.

The real highlight of the evening was the live auction of ten paintings by pets, many of whom were Noah’s Ark alumni. MC Lauren Robleza, a well-know radio personality, introduced each artist and painting with a short video of the artist at work. Then, as gentlemen in tuxedos brought each painting through the crowd, auctioneer Colonel Dennis Cassidy skillfully guided the audience through the bidding process.

The evening ended with a special roll-down auction to raise money for The Cobi Fund, which pays for extraordinary medical care that some of the pets at Noah’s Ark need. The roll down auction, which asked for pledges starting at $5,000 and rolled down to pledges of $50, raised over $11,000!

Thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors, attendees and committee member who helped make this first year’s event such a success!
