Petcasso Premiers September 21st!

When we first heard about a fundraising event being run by an animal welfare group in Austin, TX that featured an auction of paintings by pets, many of us at Noah’s Ark wondered if the folks in Austin were, pardon the expression, barking mad. But the more we learned, from conversations and a trip to see their event, the more we realized this was the new fundraiser we had been looking for…and Petcasso was born.

Petcasso will be held on Sunday September 21 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Skylands in Randolph. In addition to a live auction of art created by the pets of some of our supporters as well as pets at Noah’s Ark, videos of the artists at work, and guest appearances by the artists themselves, the evening will include great food, an open bar, live music by Little Orange Cone and a silent auction. The artwork by the pets at the shelter will be judged by the attendees so be sure to come and vote for your favorite. The masterpawces…er…masterpieces… created by shelter pets will be for sale at the event. While most of the artists will be canines, at least one cat has volunteered to create a work of art suitable for a meowseum…er …museum.

Why run a new fundraiser? Noah’s Ark is doing everything we can to encourage responsible pet ownership, including humane education and outreach programs to local schools and organizations. We are also doing our part to fight pet overpopulation by maintaining a Spay-Neuter hotline that gives pet owners access to discounted spay-neuter services voluntarily provided by a network of over 20 veterinarians in our community. And, of course, we are finding forever homes for as many cats and dogs as possible. But if we can expand our programs, we reach more people and help more animals. And do to that we need more funding.

How can you help? Mark your calendars and plan on attending Petcasso – and bringing your friends. Tickets are $100 a piece or a table of 10 for $1000. For more information or to purchase tickets, please contact Development Director Lauren Swern at 973-347-4499.
